LiLash - It Looks Like Magic, but It's Real!

Tuesday, 28 May 2013

Hi Everyone! Listen, I tried a new eyelash serum called Lilash and I have had some AMAZING results in just three weeks. I did not take a before picture...I really should have but anyway, here is a pic of my eyelashes after 3 weeks of nightly use. ( Ignore how old I look...ugh). Now, I am 52 and my lashes were HALF the size 3 weeks ago!! Can you see how the tips of my eyelashes look spidery already? My right eyelashes are actually longer than the left but I think it is because I must be applying more product to that eye. Click the link below to order Lilash...it is totally worth it!!

Dieting Over 50: Is there a difference? YES!

Dieting Over 50: Is There A Difference? If you’re someone who’s beyond the age of 50 who is looking to lose some body fat, you might start to wonder if there should be a difference in the approach you use versus the approach of someone who is younger. After all, your body is different now than when you were in your twenties, so it only stands to reason that you may need to use a different type of diet. So what differences should someone over 50 take note of? What alternations will best help you see success? Let’s go over the main things that you should know so that you can get right on track to progress. Alterations To Your Calorie Intake The very first thing that you will likely want to do is use a slightly lower calorie intake at this point in your life. Now, there is the common saying that the metabolism naturally slows with age. While this is true, it’s not for the reason many people believe. The primary reason why your metabolism will decrease as you get older is because you’re losing lean muscle tissue. If you’re someone who has been active for the last 20 years, then you likely don’t need to use a reduced calorie intake as you will have more lean muscle tissue. If you haven’t been exercising though, then a slightly lower calorie diet is in order. Try starting at around 10 or 11 calories per pound of body weight. At this point in your life you may not be quite as physically active overall either as you were when you were younger, so that will also factor into your total daily calorie burn. Accounting For Nutritional Deficiencies Another adjustment that you should make is accounting for nutritional deficiencies. Those who are older will want to really make sure that they are taking in enough calcium, iron, and B vitamins. This will help ensure that they maintain strong bones and high energy levels. In addition to that, make sure that you’re taking in a very high quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables daily on whatever diet you choose as these will help to protect against some of the common diseases that can develop as the years go on. Adding Extra Protein Finally, the last thing that you should adjust on your diet protocol is your protein intake. Many older individuals are not getting enough protein total, so it’s important that you bump up your intake. Additionally, since you aren’t quite as active as you were when you were younger, having more protein in the diet will help to further safeguard against lean muscle tissue loss, so will help to keep your metabolism higher long term. Remember to add plenty of low fat dairy sources of protein in particular such as Greek yogurt, skim milk, and low-fat cottage cheese as these are both high in protein and high in calcium, so will really help you along your way. So there you have everything that you need to know about dieting past 50. While the general approach should still be quite similar, making these few additional changes would be well worth your while.

Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew

Hi Team, Well on my recent trip to the US, I picked up a tube of Garnier BB Cream. Now if you are like me, you probably don't know what the BB stands for....I had to look it up but it stands for Blemish Balm. These BB creams are kind of like a tinted mositurizer with vitamins and SPF. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream ($12.99) Available in 2 shades. “Skin concerns, such as discoloration, dullness, blotchiness and dryness can come from a number of different sources. It’s hard to find just one product that addresses them all. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream immediately and effectively fullfills your skincare expectations with just one multi-benefit product that combines intense moisturizing skincare + immediate skin perfecting coverage for skin that looks naturally more even, radiant and smooth.” My Observations: I put it on and was surprised at how well the color matched my skin! I literally said “Wow!” The coverage is super sheer, but gave my skin a healthy overall glow. You’ll see below that my freckles actually get “airbrushed” out a little. When I tried to apply a second layer for more coverage… the color seemed to get more pink!! Guess I’ll be using this BB cream very sheer and not be greedy with coverage. The BB Cream is quite moisturizing which is great, but it doesn’t have a matte or silky finish like some of the other BB creams I’ve reviewed. It leaves your skin feeling dewy so if you have oily skin, you may want to skip your normal moisturizer altogether or just opt for a super light moisturizer. After a few days of use though, my facial skin got very dry and distint dry patches showed up. I discontinued all of my creams/serums etc and my skin went back to normal. I will now go back to using my products one by one to find out which one is the culprit. Will let you know, Ta Ta, Lisa

Retrieve versus Beaute Pacifique Metamorphique

Hi Guys, Well, I have used alot of different types of facials creams/serums and little by little I will review them all. Today, however, I want to talk about what my experience has been with Retrieve. I have for many years tried and tried again to use a prescription strength Vitamin A cream. I have tried Retin A, Micro A, and last Retrieve. No matter how little I put on or how infrequently I apply it, I get red and irritated. My last and very recent attempt at Retrieve has been the last 3 months with applying Retrieve once a week per my beuty therapist instructions. Even that one application makes for several post days of irriated skin. I think after all of this, I just need to give up on prescription retinolds. There is a fairly new cosmetic retinold that I have also been using called Beaute Pacifique Creme Metamorphique. I have been a little slack and only using it on and off but for the past 10 days I have been faithful in applying it at bedtime on very dry skin. I must admit, my skin is softer and smoother. It has no odor and feels very rich when applied. I know it will take longer than a prescription retinoid but considering how I simply cannot tolerate a prescription retinoid, I am committed to my Creme Metamorphique....at least for now!! PS: Still in the USA and waiting gor Hurricane Sandy to pass! Wish me luck. Ta, Lisa

Aussie Sun touched shine hi hold hi shine hair spray

Hi Team, Well, I am in the USA and recently tried a new hair spray....Aussie Sun touched Shine medium hold hairspray. For some reason, the Aussie brand of products are not available in Australia. Go figure. Anyway, I had high hopes for this but sad to say, it was heavy and stiff. Having said that, it did hold the style during a misty day. Would I buy it again? Nope. Ta Ta, Lisa

Diets you can cheat on

Why A Cheat Meal Might Just Save Your Diet And Boost Fat Loss! If there's one thing that most dieters always want to know about as they go about their fat loss diet plan, the cheat meal is it. Is a cheat meal okay to have on your diet or must you really cut out all the foods that you enjoy entirely? There's no question that if you start having cheat meals just a little too often this is going to hold you back from seeing progress. Cheat meals will be much higher in fat and calories than normal meals would, and that will definitely add up. But, if you plan your cheat meals wisely, this doesn't have to be the case. In some situations, cheat meals can actually help you see faster overall results, so it's imperative that you learn how to incorporate these into your diet plan properly. Let's have a look over some of the main things that you should keep in mind. Cheat Meals And Your Metabolism The very first positive effect that a cheat meal will have as you go about your diet is the fact that they will help to boost your metabolism. Any time you go on a reduced calorie diet plan for an extended period of time, the body is going to slow its metabolic rate. It literally thinks that you're trying to starve it and it's going to do everything it can to prevent this from happening. But, by having the cheat meal you send the message to the body that it's getting more fuel again, thus the metabolism speeds back up. All it takes is one good cheat meal to help offset a slow metabolism so that you can start seeing fat loss results again. Cheat Meals And Your Food Cravings The next benefit of a cheat meal is with regards to your food cravings. If you aren't incorporating any cheat meals into your plan, it is only going to be a matter of time before food cravings get the best of you. Fortunately, the cheat meal will prevent this. By allowing that cheat meal into your diet plan at a specific pre-determined point, you're going to help prevent yourself from falling off the plan at any other time during the diet. Simply knowing that you will get to have whatever food you're craving is often enough for most people to stay with eating healthy the rest of the time. Cheat Meals And Muscle Glycogen Levels Finally, the last reason why cheat meals can help to increase your results is because if you choose to make the cheat meal high carb in nature, this will restore your muscle glycogen level, which is the primary energy source used during your workout sessions. With fully stocked muscle glycogen you'll be able to workout at a higher intensity, thus you'll see more calorie burning and faster overall progress. So as you can see, a cheat meal can be a good thing for your diet. You just need to make sure that you keep them limited to about once per week and still practice moderation. To help prevent hunger from causing you to really overdo it at the cheat meal, make sure to take an appetite suppressant like Phen 375 beforehand, as this will ensure you don't gain body fat due to that cheat.

Priori Lash Recovery System

Hi Team,

Still talking about lashes here. I have just purchased Priori Lash Recovery System that states you will see " longer, fuller lashes in 2 weeks". Yep, they say two weeks! So, starting tonight, I promise to apply it to my eyeliner area every night for 14 days. I will then report back here and give you my verdict.

By the way, back in 2005, I worked for a company called Jan Marini Skin Research. They came out with the first eyelash enhancer and even though it was expensive at $180.00 a tube, it really, really worked. I swear my upper eyelashes looked liked spiders and were freakishly long...so long I had to cut them. Yes, you heard that right. Anyway, the product got taken off the market and in the end became a prescription product by the name of Latisse. Latisse is not available in Australia....I think and even in the USA it is about $180.00 for a 4 week supply.

Sooooo, I will all let you know about Priori which cost $90.00 a tube.

Thinning eyelashes

Hey everybody!

I just read an interesting tip about the type of mascara to use with thinning eyelashes. You might think a thickening or volume building mascara would the the call BUT apparently if your lashes are thin, the volumizing mascara has nothing to coast on to. Sooooo, the recommendation is to use a lengthening type to make every little lash as long as possible without weighing it down.
